Meet Twee the gween twee fwog [or—since you are not a toddler struggling to master those ‘twicky’ consonant blends like ‘br’ or ‘fr’—you may say ‘green tree frog’ if you prefer]. But the ‘Twee’ is right. The frog’s name is Twee and not ‘Tree’.
I met Twee, who hiding behind the bag of potting mix on the front veranda, this morning about 07:00. There aren’t that many 3 inch green tree frogs in Cessnock—or at least not in my garden. I’m glad to see my garden is ‘working’. I’ve planned it for ‘habitat’ as well as aesthetics.
But my front veranda is not the safest place for a tree frog.

Modifying the method that the Reptile Park teaches to catch funnel-web spiders [but I had known how to do that for a long, l-o-n-g time] I used a small bucket and some stiff card to capture Twee and transfer her to the backyard. I then released her into the ‘dog proof’ “Fairy Fernery Sanctuary”.
When I was a kid I used to catch frogs just so I could have a good look at them, but I didn’t realize it was a death sentence. It’s not a good idea to even touch frogs. And I’m not being ‘sissy’ and ‘girly’—the oils in our skin are poison to frogs. [I learnt that only this year by listening to one of the keepers at the Australian Reptile Park—if you have access to this place and haven’t been—well, just get yourself out there! Check it out at Modifying the method that the Reptile Park teaches to catch funnel-web spiders [but I had known how to do that for a long, l-o-n-g time] I used a small bucket and some stiff card to capture Twee and transfer her to the backyard. I went there again after breakfast... hoping I wouldn’t see Twee. It would be a sure indication she was seriously sick if she hadn’t gone into hiding.
There was no sign of her. Good. So I started pulling out a few weeds and saw a Blue-tongue lizard.
