Yap, yap, YEP! It’s time to get serious—serious and sensible! Life is not a bowlful of meat scraps, cheese and Scotch finger bickies.
Look me straight in the eyes and repeat after me, ‘yap, yap, $ grr-r-r BAD DOG growl’
[silence…]
Mum! Put that into Oz-English for them…

Mum! Put that into Oz-English for them…
Blah, blah money is no good, blah, blankety blank.
Yap, yap, YEP. That’s it people puppies. Now say “Money is no good.”
[more long silence…]

Why don’t they speak Mummy, why don’t they listen and do what I say? It’s important… it’s fact… it’s sensible…
Even you Mummy—you want to sell books to get some money!
But it doesn’t make you contented—not like I feel when I have a nap right up close to you on a soft bed…or better still on your lap.
And it doesn’t make you excited—not like I feel when you get the lead so I can take you for a walk, or you say ‘Treat’.
And it doesn’t make you feel satisfied—not like I feel after a bowl of meat and gravy with some pasta mixed in. or when I’ve done what you told me to do and you say, ‘Good doggy’ and rub my chest and scratch me under my chin.

But I know you feel contented when you go walkabout or work in the garden.
And I know you feel excited when you are talking with nice dog people.
And I know you feel satisfied when a people puppy likes reading or comes over and makes a fuss over me.
But money is no good, Mummy. It can’t play with you or pat you. It’s not like a blanky that can keep you warm. You can’t eat it. It doesn’t even smell nice!
Why do people dogs want money, Mummy?
Why can’t you be sensible like us real dogs?
