Personality on the move.
It’s all because of Mike… That’s not a complaint by the way… I’m very grateful to Mike and the MBTI [Myers-Briggs Type Indicator] It was a life changer for me to—I’m not going to go into the detail—but by finding out my ‘personality type’ was liberating. I found out that being ‘INFJ’ is statistically rare but not ‘weird’ and I gained so much understanding to the whole ‘who am I?’ question.
Mike had been introduced to ‘Type’ through management training at Penrith Council nearly 25 years ago. Jungian psychology captured his interest and he pursued it a ‘hobby’.
Most of the members of AusAPT are professionals who use the MBTI or similar instruments in their work—so Mike and I are definitely untypical members of the organisation.

I really like learning and participating in ‘workshops’ and talking with people in the ‘Type Community’. It one of the Saturday workshops in Sydney can be compared to a tasty Thai meal, then a conference is like an international food festival!
It’s great to talk to people, like Mary and Catherine that you’ve known for a while [I don’t like the expression ‘old friends’] and meet people you haven’t met before.
Lauren is a rep for MBTI—holding a model for demonstrating the different types. Now where reps are involved, I have to admit I head for the ‘freebies’. This company has credit card sized ‘stress-o-meter’ with a small square sensor to give an indication of the level of stress you’re experiencing—actually, Lauren explained, it is reacting to/ indicating muscle tension. A neat toy. I’ve gone to the website www.cppasiapacific.com/share and downloaded ‘my’ type head and stress head. [By the way, I’ve collected enough hotel pens and a couple from another company to last me till next conference…]
